When ‘Abdu’l-Bahá came to America in 1912 he spoke before congress, met with high-ranking officials and visited followers of all religions. He spoke at churches, groups and societies almost every day of his eight-and-a-half month journey. After these daily meetings, ‘Abdu’l-Bahá would gather with interested parties at one of the believers homes and sit around the fireplace. In this informal atmosphere ‘Abdu’l-Bahá would answer questions and deepen them in the spiritual teachings of the Bahá’í Faith.

Since that time, these “firesides” have developed into a series of classes which offer the seeker a priceless education in religion and the proofs for the Bahá’í Faith – “the waters of life free of price”.
